What’s your RoTI value(Return on Time Invested) from the meetups or events?
When you go to attend meetups, conferences or any events, do you think about your ROTI value?
When you go to attend meetups, conferences or any events, do you think about your ROTI value?
I found the same pattern of problems after attending more than 30+ meetups in Toronto in a month.
Story: I moved to Toronto 1 month back from London, ON and I attended more than 30 meetups, connected with nearby 40 people out of 1000+ attendees connected on LinkedIn. I found the same pattern of problems in all the meetups!
Here’s the video from yesterday’s meetup where 60 years old person was trying to take some important slide photo. How many times you did the same thing?
Let me tell you about my problems:
1. Connection and Networking:
It’s really hard to connect with everyone on LinkedIn or ask everyone (It’s impossible!)
People don’t know how to use LinkedIn QR code.
Many people are shy and don’t much communicate during events.
For example, many times I only got connected with only 5 people out of 50 on LinkedIn at the event. Sometimes less than that! What’s your ROTI value?
2. Marketing and Personal Branding:
It’s really difficult to do marketing of your product(Company product) or Personal branding (If you’re job seeker) without having connections and communication with people at the meetups/conferences/tech events.
For example, MarketingTO meetup a few people really want to give a pitch and share their startup ideas but most of the time they failed to connect with most of the people at the event. What’s your ROTI value?
3. Knowledge sharing and Learning:
Everyone takes photos! (Agree?) -But we miss sometimes good content because of sitting arrangments or the quality of your phone camera!
It’s always nice to have different angles of photos or clear photos of the slides and for organizers crowd photos.
Many people need guidance, help and validate their ideas — all depends on the events but you failed! I failed many times to talk with way more smarter people than me. What’s your ROTI value?
4. Organizers:
Does the organizer know about everyone’s purposes for an event? Do they need help or want to share their knowledge or investors?
Yes, organizers have email ids but how’re using these data?
How do you attract your attendees for an event and future events apart from free pizza and drink!
What’s the solution?
Let me show you what I’m was working on at 1:00 AM yesterday!
Late Night- Whiteboard planning layout
I’m working on these points:
1. How to connect with all people from events (Ex. LinkedIn, Email)
2. How to find good quality photos of the event (Ex. Slides, crowd photos, etc) because…
3. Find others purpose and make life-changing events for attendees (For organizers)
4. Get Maximum value of ROTI (Return on Time Invested) value
